Seeing Christ …in the Cloud …in the House

Expressing and revealing the indwelling Christ

Rev 1:7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, …

Relaxing in my living room one afternoon, as I contemplated what to write for the blog theme this month (the House), I thought, …OK, …I could take a panoramic tour of the house and talk about how I see Christ in each of the elements I come across in the tour. For example, the kitchen sink, where He is the true kitchen sink: ‘If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink. I do nothing on my own, but it is the Father who works through me for I am the true Faucet through which the great Aquifer flows. I do nothing on my own initiative, but I flow as the Father taught Me. I am the true Faucet and the true Drain which takes away the sins of the world.’ But, while scribbling some notes on that approach, I looked up, and out the windows and from my vantage point on the mountains, I could see clouds covering the Tucson valley. Some of them were producing snow. It was a beautiful sight. Then I remembered where, in the first testament, there were several passages that cited clouds in association with the temple: the house of the Lord. While those were just pictures of Christ, what is today’s reality of what we read about in the first testament?

In an earlier article I shared how I saw Christ in the clouds: …“The conditions may be ready, but for a cloud to be formed there has to be a multitude of condensation nuclei, a fullness. For the visible image of the invisible God to be “manifest” there has to be a “many-feasting” nuclei that are eating and drinking-in of the Living Water available in the heavenlies. This is a picture of the body of Christ. The visible image of the invisible Lord: expressed through an ascended corporate people living in and sharing divine life together: a people who are continually experiencing the in-dwelt Christ, living out of the pulverizing work of the cross, carried as pollen for the increase on the winds of the Spirit, in the freedom-inspired dew point environment of corporate one-anothering and synchronized to a divine-natured, self-giving, trinitarian dance ….”

Acts1: 9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

And so, as we look forward to that glorious day, we have the privilege of living today in the presence of that future reality through the vehicle of the corporate expression of His body. To glorify Him by: acknowledging and revealing His majesty. A cloud of witnesses to His glory, each sharing their portion of Christ in community life, in the fullness of all creative and visible forms of expression: Christ coming in Clouds of Glory!

*Read below to take a trip into the first testament and see some foreshadowing pictures of Christ in our midst and the mist, when clouds were manifest …in the House:

2 Chron 5:11 When the priests came forth from the holy place … in unison … with one voice to praise and to glorify the Lord… then the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

1 Kings 8:10 It happened that when the priests came from the holy place, the cloud filled the house of the Lord, 11 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord. 12 Then Solomon (a picture of Christ) said, “The Lord has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud. 13 “I have surely built You a lofty house, A place for Your dwelling forever.”

Ezekiel 10:3 Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the temple when the man entered, and the cloud filled the inner court. 4 Then the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub to the threshold of the temple, and the temple was filled with the cloud and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.

Exodus 40: 34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 36 Throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out; 37 but if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up. 38 For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

I love the thought of the clouds building up to a fullness as each particle is added, and then the fullness gives expression, rain/snow, etc. Incredible picture of our Lord in and through His ekklesia!
