“In work or rest, the consciousness of life never leaves us. And even so can the mighty power of the Eternal life maintain within us the consciousness of its presence. Or rather, Christ, who is our life, Himself dwells within us, and by His presence maintains our consciousness that we are in Him. As if He would give us the command, “Abide in me” without securing the grace and the power to enable us to perform it!”
“To abide unceasingly in Christ is the portion of every believer.”
Christ speaking to you:
If you are looking to yourself as a source to keep you abiding in me then it will fail, as it should. I alone am the source, not you. It is my work to keep and water you moment by moment. I long to be the one who does this work for you. I do not see it as work. Abiding with you dear Holy one is like water flowing back and forth between you and me. I have abided all my life in my Father and Him in me, now I in you and you in Me. Through my death, I have given you the Right to Abide in Me and I in you. It’s all I have ever wanted, is for you to be with me. I know about all the obstacles of your mind and things of this life that keep you from resting in me. I am one who can sympathize with you, I was human too. I have overcome these things. Come and rest, abide in me…It is my joy to keep you abiding in Me. I am your source, drink of Me, which is to abide in Me.
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”
