The Question

In August of this year, the four of us were privileged to speak to a group of spiritually hungry believers in Southern California at a conference called Infusion.  This conference was designed for those who are searching for something outside of the religious institution, aka, organic church.  We were tasked with answering a list of five questions posed to us by Milt Rodriguez.  After seeing how the Lord used that time to minister to those saints who were there, we decided we would take the opportunity to record a conversation over each of the questions and post them here on the blog.  We were tasked with answering these questions because we have been involved in body life/organic church life for over 3 and half years each, and we are now in California training to plant organic expressions of Jesus Christ.

So, the first question that we discuss here is:

What has your experience been having a Christian worker plant the church?

Again, we have all lived in, participated in, and experienced “organic church life” for over 3.5 years each.  Our answers stem from that experience with Christ and His Body.  We hope you are encouraged, challenged, blessed, and maybe even a little edutained (educated + entertained = early morning hours). 🙂

The Song

The song chosen to play before and after our conversation is “Quill” by The Last Bison.  I found the song going through my son’s music on his computer and fell in love with it and with the group.  The lyrics are below:

When the ink meets quill
With love my letters are filled
Let us seal this love as the back
Of the envelope’s sealed with wax

We will run away
From those who’d lead us astray
Searching hard we will fully rely
On the words of the one crucified

We will run away
From those who lead us astray
Searching hard we will fully rely
On the grace of the one crucified

You guys are hilarious…and saint-ly. What a combo!

Seriously though, the joy of the Lord is evident in your lives…and given your physical/material circumstances, that shames principalities and powers. Keep enjoying him and pressing in…you all remind me of Psalm 16. Love and blessings. xoxoxo

    Hi you all
Just want to let you know I was so encouraged and stirred in spirit by what you shared. Thanks so much for following the Lord in this way, for giving up so He can get!

We are in Australia on the East Coast, Central Coast NSW to be exact, and we embrace Milt and Mary in the same capacity as workers to the body and keep in regular contact, we love them dearly and have been blessed so much by the Lord’s Life as a result. I sensed the same spirit (of Christ) through you all as I listened to your podcast. Be encouraged guys, we love you and are praying for you all.

Fun podcast. Thank you for addressing the question of what workers/equippers mentioned in the bible can look like on the ground?

    1. “Follow the money” is a legit concept in this world. When “workers” really live by faith, placing 100% of their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the local body they are serving is freed from the pressure of long-term provision for the worker, I think it helps provide a much more conducive soil for Jesus Christ to be planted.

    2. Trusting God to reveal Christ in a context through sent WORKERS is an important, biblical concept. For those of us with experience in the institutional church, perhaps our distrust stems from a myriad of destructive past experiences. It’s easy to give up on something when you’ve tried it and it didn’t work.

    3. Loved the podcast format – the four of you having a relaxed conversation, in Christ. I think you’re listeners will learn as much from the way you love one another as they do from the specific content itself.

Thanks, James. We were wondering how the podcast format would work. We really wanted to just have a conversation about the topic and allow others to listen in, then possibly join the conversation via the comments. Thank you for your portion, brother. Really appreciate the encouragement. 🙂

I have been praying and waiting for this movement back to how the church was first established. I resigned as an associate pastor 6 years ago to print a Christ Centered magazine outside of, but welcomed by, over 100 institutional churches in Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida (St. Marys/KIngsland GA, and North Jacksonville, FL). I have a number of Christian friends wanting to start a house church here. I have been reading “The Temple Within” by Milt Rodriguez. Please pray about sending a church planter here to begin a house church or train me. Thanks, Dave Meier
