I Have Seen the Lord

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:1-3

The disciples saw Jesus in the flesh. They saw Him, they touched Him, they heard Him, they smelled Him. Then they saw Jesus in the Spirit. They saw Him, they touched Him, they heard Him, they smelled Him. Can you imagine that first experience of hearing with their spiritual ears, and recognizing their Jesus’ voice? Or the first time their spiritual eyes saw Him? They had watched Him ascend into the heavens, but here He was again. Their Jesus.

Our Jesus.

And they proclaimed Him.

For the past four years I have lived in what many would call an “organic church”. Organic Church is becoming a ‘thing’ now, so we don’t really use that label much anymore. We are an expression of Jesus Christ. We aren’t a bunch of people trying to be like Jesus, we are a bunch of people learning to express Jesus Christ together. We are His Body and He is our Head. And through this experience, I have seen.

I have seen the Lord change the heart and mind of a group of believers in the course of one meeting, and I have seen the Lord change the heart and mind of a group of believers over the course of months.

I have seen the Lord heal hurts and restore relationships.

I have seen the Lord bring someone back from the clutches of death.

I have seen the Lord express His love, His laughter, His joy, His pleasure.

I have seen the Lord express His compassion, His provision, His inclusiveness.

I have seen the Lord discipline and I have seen the Lord comfort.

I have seen the Lord take a group of believers into a new season.

I have seen the Lord open blind eyes.

I have seen the Lord restore deaf ears.

I have seen the Lord heal lame legs.

I have seen the Lord resurrect the dead.

I have seen the Lord truly alive and living on the earth today.

I have seen Jesus.

Our Jesus.

And I will proclaim Him.

I have been a Christian for 39 years and to be honest with you I have not seen much of the life of Christ in others but I have seen a little–but my main concern right now is that they see his shining greatness in me and I speak words with his divine power–your posts are great–keep em coming.

      Hi Brad,
Personally, I believe that the emotions are seated in the soul which is part of the natural (physical) man, so I would answer your question like this: they were not in the physical/emotional, but in the spiritual/everlasting.
Thanks for checking out the blog. 🙂
