Churches, Painting, and Tribes: An Update

I am not one much for personal updates, and I’m not really sure why, either. I thought about talking my husband into doing this post for me since he loves giving updates, but I decided against it….So here it goes!

Right Now

Well by the time you read this we (my family and me) will have been in Austin, TX, for about 6 weeks. We’re here with the Babiones in hopes of planting a church sometime in the next year or so. Our kids are great friends, and they, along with us, have been enjoying the reunion. We’ll have another family from the OKC church joining us this month, as well. We all are excited to see what the Lord is doing here in Austin, TX.

In the meantime, personally, I am going to start exploring painting. Mind you I am not a painter at all. But recently, I’ve felt encouraged by the Lord to explore this with Him. I am such a picture person. I think in pictures, and the Lord uses pictures with me to reveal things about Himself and His purpose. There’ve been several times in the past where I wished I could paint what I see in my head but have felt very limited by my lack of ability. I found out that there are plenty of people who started painting in their forties, one namely was Winston Churchill. I’ve dabbled in photography and drawing, but I’m going to give painting a go now. I have spent some time with a couple of people who paint, and they’ve been very helpful in encouraging me to get started.  So I’ll begin to take steps to explore this with the Lord and see where it goes, simply with the goal to just know Him more.

Also by nature, I am a quiet and closed up person, but I have noticed in the past year and a half I cannot shut up. I have written and spoken more words than I ever knew I had within me. Like painting, writing and speaking do not come naturally either, due to a learning disability called dyslexia. But I have found these weaknesses to be one of the greatest things that lead me to depend on and trust in the supply of the Lord’s life, so I’ll keep them for now:) All thanks to Christ and His expression in Gainesville, FL, who have helped me discover Christ in me. This is where I began to change. It’s when we live in our true Habitat that we can, in spite of our weaknesses or strengths, become all that we’re meant to be in Christ. Speaking of writing and Habitats….

Unite the Tribe

After being in church life in Gainesville, FL, for about 4 years, we felt led to take steps toward learning to plant churches by the Lord’s Life. So recently, in the past year and a half, we’ve been with Milt and Mary Rodriguez in Southern CA learning, hands on and by the Life of Christ, how to lay a foundation of Christ among a group of people. This includes revealing an inexhaustible and all-inclusive Christ and how to live by His Life, individually and together. Learning how to abide and behold Christ with your spirit.  How to live by the headship of Jesus Christ by finding the mind of Christ together and learning to execute it. Also how to express Christ to one another and make Him visible. Laying a foundation is similar to body life in that there’s glory and gore but it’s always worth it when we gain more of Christ.

It’s no secret that the church is going through a metamorphosis and shedding some of its traditional views and ways of doing things.  Hopefully, it begins to lead us to not how to do church better, but rather to the very desire and heart of God. Where we set ourselves aside, with all our ideas of church and what we want out of church and begin to ask, Lord, what do you want and how do you want this to look? The Lord is up to something and there is more! You’ll find Him in greater fullness beyond the walls of captivity!

Saying this, my husband, Andrew, and I have a desire to help gather God’s people together for His eternal purpose. To help them become who they were always meant to be which is Christ’s Body and Bride, God’s Family and House. So we’ve started a website called Unite the Tribe, to begin to help people connect with others who are looking to meet together for the Lord’s Eternal Purpose. There is truly only one tribe, it’s Christ’s tribe! This new tribe is made of a 3rd Race of humanity! If this resonates with you then connect with us on either Unite the Tribe or here on 3rdRace.org. Reach out and let us know, and we’ll do our best to connect you with others and encourage you along the way!

I read somewhere recently that painting helps others to see the beauty of the earth. It’s a way to serve and bring joy to others. God created the earth and saw it was good, and so it is for Him we portray His love, through what He has created inside of the gifts He has given. Beauty in art reminds us of the Beautiful one. I love your thoughts here Carrie, keep the dream of God alive in your heart!

Thanks Marilyn for the encouragement and for helping me, that day in the park, with painting. “Beauty in art reminds us of the Beautiful One” Love this! Christ is the true Beautiful One, anything found in heaven or on earth that are beautiful is only a reflection of the One who is true Beauty.

I know what you mean about painting/drawing. I often have pictures in my head that I can’t really explain, nor can I create them for others to see. Frustrating… I hope the painting project works out!
